I am also thinking about a subscription based website. Just wondering if people would buy subscription for my content. I would be grateful for a honest opinion.

I think it can work. Websites like MailChimp offer subscription based content via email. Your website has content which is to the point and varying in subject, so many people might be interested. I have no knowledge or experience in monetisation, so I do not know about that.
