Stoicism is a philosophy that prefers the long term to the short term. If we extend that idea to investing, we might say that Stoic Investing is about putting your money to work today so you don’t have to labour later.
In his memoir A Man for All Markets: Edward O. Thorp, an American mathematics professor and former hedge fund manager, expressed it best.
“Investment management that is properly managed would better prepare people for retirement and make them less reliant on society during their lifetimes.”
